Mad Angel Films started many years ago in 2002.  Matt Peters found himself, camera in hand, shooting strange movies with his friends.  One of the finest short films he would produce in his early years was Pot Zombie.  Pot Zombie would become an instant hit amongst the residents of Frankfort, NY, detailing the exploits of pot-smoking hippies among crooked cops, and of course, a zombie.  Other films included BugBeGone, MacMatt, and Sick and Demented.  Screwing around with his parent's camcorder wasn't enough for Matt, so after high school and two years of photography at Mohawk Valley Community College he left for Binghamton University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema.

In Matt's college years he would continue to create short films with his classmates.  This produced many different types of films from Brackish, a short film that would later become the inspiration to his first feature length movie, to Dailo, a Chinese gangster film based on the Bard's King Lear.  Other films produced during this era include Vivica, Robby's Kill Box, and La Morte.

Finally Matt graduated from college and set off to make his first feature film.  He partnered with Jason Covey, a friend since kindergarten and graduate student of Computer Science at Rochester Institute of Technology (now you know why our website is so awesome).  Jason has his own reasons for starting the company that will go with him to the grave, but it was mostly boredom and suffering from the lack of a creative outlet.  On May 22, 2007, Kyomatt Entertainment Inc. was born with Mad Angel Films as its first division.  During this time period the short entitled Killers From Deep Space was created.

Next preproduction and production of Brackish, Matt's first feature film, began.  Brackish was a backwoods slasher flick with an interesting story line, about a man who loses his wife-to-be and tries to resurrect her from the grave.  Eventually the demonic cult surrounding the book destroys him and all of his friends.  It starred Dior Aioubov, Rachel Powers, Al Amendolare, III, Catherine Presite, and Josh Campbell.  We also discovered great local talent such as the commanding presence of Kevin McDermott, the seductive properties of Vanessa O'Brien, and the artistic acting style of Irene Young. The film presented many challenges to the company and much was learned from the experience.  The film premiered at the New Uptown Theater on September 7, 2007.

Mad Angel Films would finalize its draft of The Abandoned script and begin preproduction in late 2007.  The film's production would continue through January and February of 2008.
