Dead Wood

Dead Wood
Genre: Horror
Runtime: 85mins
Rating: R
Entertainment Score: 2/10
Tech Score: 5.5/10
IMDB Score: 3.9/10   (46 votes)

Summary from IMDB: Four friends escape the grime of the city and head out into the woods for a peaceful, relaxing weekend. Events take a sinister turn when a mysterious girl appears in their camp looking for her boyfriend. Soon the nightmare begins as they find themselves lost in an endless wilderness stalked by a deadly force. As those left fight for survival they will discover the true nature of fear.

From me: Look at the cover it looks awesome! Watch the movie and you will be kicking yourself. The writing is so bad that the horror moments are predicable in a way that you feel like you have seen this movie 100s of times before.

Audio: 8.5/10. The audio was really good for something that was done on a hand held. There were some dubbing issues. Not so bad to lower the score much but just enough to lower it almost 2full points. I liked the fact that you could hear the bushes moving and twigs braking as people stepped on them.

Visuals: 5/10. We have an Asian who get's naked and all we see is her blurry bottom!! That's so not cool. 98% of the movie takes place in a forest so not a lot of things you can do in there. The make up was killer but they did not have enough people waring it. Whoever did the make up for them better not do anything else, they are great at it.

Writing: 2/10. My god this was bad. No build up, no back story, you don't know why anything is really going on. Maybe the writer felt that the lack of knowing something made it all the more scary. What is scary is that a movie writing like this was made. I have seen ultra low budget films who better story telling ability than this one. The dialog for the chars seemed to be natrual so its not 100% garbage.

Acting: 5/10. Both good and avg for a movie like this. This was the first, second or only project the stars have done. The acting was not consent.

Dir/Ed 7/10. The use of a studicam or tripod shows with this film and I thank the director for that. I'm a bit disapotined with the editor, he left some of the scenes go on for what seemed like forever but he did pick some nice transations.

Bottom line: I still cant spell and I would never buy this movie. In fact I would never watch it again.
